Women's Workshops & Tailored Group Training

MINDSET offers one-day and two-day women's self-defence workshops, plus tailored training for community groups, businesses, educational institutions and non-profit organisations.

Flagship Women's Self-Defence Workshops

Our flagship Women's MINDSET Self-Defence Workshops are specifically designed to empower women with practical, effective self-defence skills and the confidence to use them. These intensive workshops focus on real-world scenarios that women are most likely to encounter, providing techniques that work regardless of size, strength, or fitness level.

Each workshop covers situational awareness, boundary setting and verbal de-escalation, but the bulk of the workshop concentrates on the difficult part: physical defence techniques. We create a safe, supportive environment where women can practise realistic scenarios, build muscle memory and develop the mental resilience needed to respond effectively under stress.

These workshops typically run for one day, with a more comprehensive workshop running for two days. Both workshops include pad work, hands-on training, scenario-based practice and a Q&A session at the end. They are ideal for individuals, groups or organisations looking to provide comprehensive self-defence training for women.

Corporate & Organisational Training

Workshop content can be tailored to the organisation's needs, participants and operating environment. This may include relevant workplace or community scenarios, such as responding to aggressive behaviour, navigating potentially threatening situations and considering personal safety during business travel.

Instructor-led training emphasises practical skills, awareness, confidence, personal safety and appropriate responses to threatening situations. Our instructors adapt the training to the circumstances of each group while maintaining a practical, engaging and supportive approach.

Corporate workshops can be delivered at your organisation's premises or another agreed venue in New Zealand. Half-day and full-day formats can be discussed to suit your group's objectives and availability. We do not operate a permanent NZ training facility.

Our Training System

MINDSET teaches practical civilian self-defence, with clear progressions for different experience levels. Training focuses on personal safety, confidence and responding to realistic situations.

The training draws on experience in CQC, Krav Maga, Kung Fu, Kickboxing, Muay Thai and other defensive systems, adapted for civilian situations. Sessions combine awareness, avoidance and de-escalation with practical physical skills.

Practice includes pad work, partner exercises and scenarios, with coaching adapted to your needs and current level. The aim is to develop responses you can understand, practise and use under pressure.

Practical Self-Defence for Real-World Situations

Personal safety training considers what happens before, during and after a threatening situation. Awareness, clear boundaries and opportunities to leave are part of the practical work.

Awareness and boundaries help you recognise concerning behaviour, set limits and make decisions about your safety. Training includes verbal de-escalation and ways to avoid or leave unsafe situations.

Practical physical skills are introduced progressively through clear demonstrations, pad work and partner practice. Beginners receive support while more experienced participants can develop their skills further.

Scenario practice brings awareness, decisions and physical skills together in a supportive training setting. The focus is on protecting yourself and finding an opportunity to escape.
